If you let your ac u it get that gross. Then you dedicate to suffer in the heat. You should be cleaning it regularly. At least once a month.
Look at you, weird reasoning
Or get a Milwaukee that has anti kick built in...
Uuuhhh guys i gotta go caulk some holes ill be right back
is this a 5000 btu unit ?
It works so great, thst it also sucks in the dirt from the outside enviroment ant throws that at the coils to. Many, aren' designed to be cleaned.
As a HVAC technician. Ummm listen to this man
I just wish they could make the lower part of plastic or fiberglass to avoid the rust
the lake inside the back of the ac always makes me think that the lack of drainage is a bad thing. so i worry about it a lot cuause i belive its supposed to be dry inside to minimize mud formation
Could this be installed in a horizontal sliding window?
Gosh I'm crushing so hard on this guy lol.
Daddy. lol
Wait until the smell starts. It's a design flaw that allows mold to grow on the blower, and you cannot take this about easily to clean it so, good luck... I got rid of my 8k and 10k units for this reason.
I found the right man to answer my question. Thanks
Costco has this exact model of 8,000 BTU for $240 right now and at 12,000 BTU for $380. Wouldn’t get it anywhere else.
Apparently the one from Home Depot is the newest model, with a new flash cool setting that allows you to run the cooling compressors work at full capacity, regardless of temps indoors or outdoors and it sucks the Cost Co one doesn’t have it
Thank you. 🙏😊🎉
I bought DeWalt. NICE. I was team black and decker and I'm kind of a brand loyalist, tend to go with the Stanley family.
Nice, As you buy more and more DeWalt tools, I think you'll be very pleased
@@HandymanHertz Lowe's had a good sale going on, and a steal on a kit, so replaced my "MATRIX" with deWalts.
If you don’t want water sitting in the bottom of your unit, you can most definately drill holes for drainage. I’ve done that with ours and it works magically.
Would this help with my window ac that I run in my Room it cools down but gets super humid
If your room cools down, but remains humid, i believe that means your AC is too big for your room. Some of them have a dehumidify option, but it might experience, it doesn't really help.
2 years later, your condenser coil is rotten at the lower portion. Needs new unit. Planned obsolescence and job security?
This is awkward… That's a 14-year-old unit in the video and still running strong....
So my neighbor sent me this after he saw drill holes 😓 what do i do now ?
Start chewing some bubblegum and plug the hole. It's not the end of the world if you drill it. It's just not quite as efficient. You can plug the hole, but not sure how big of a hole you have. You'd have to get creative.
Explain the rust at the bottom if it's fine
Easy...This thing is 14 years old, and it's just surface rust . I've never had one rust out and become the limiting factor.
Yea thank you so much now I’ve got hot water your the best
Glad to help! 👍🏼
Still looks moldy. Spray bleach on the foam and scrub it all and then you can call it a deep clean
Bleach is a terrible idea. It will corrode and run your AC.
Hi thanks for the video. I have the same exact thermocouple but unfortunately mine is broke. All the replacements I've seen or have been told will work from parts departments do not have that black battery looking piece. I can only find it on amazon. What is it and is it not needed? Can I replace it with a regular thermocouple? I did a temp solder to make sure that was my issue and the water heater worked fine so i know its the thermocouple. Thanks
Thanks on the behalf of all single moms ❤
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Ac on second floor no access to back
If you're ambitious enough, you can take it out of the window to a tub or outside and clean it.
@HandymanHertz May need help doing that but will try
My window is only 13 inches and this says minimum is 13.75”. Is that a hard number? I think it wouldn’t be an issue as long as I can slide the unit in. Might have to do it at an angle, but it should work.
You might be able to tilt it forward at the right angle until you get to the U shape similar to how you would get a couch through a doorway. Not sure though
I'm doing it anyway because mine doesn't have those holes. It's annoying having to keep draining it and putting it back up.
Safety relief valve technician here good job that's basically how all safety valves work the screw u adjust tech name is the compression screw.. For future reference anyways u did good for ur first time better than some idiots I know that's worked on valves for years only o e thing I seen that would get rejected always lube those o rings son always.. Lol
Dewalt 20v drill kicks ass!
Yeah!! 💪
Oops 😂😂😂
Shameless branding.
You bet
12k refurbished link does not work
It ranges from out of stock to in stock.
@@HandymanHertz no worries. The link went to a random product though
@@HandymanHertz we just ordered the 12k from your referral link last night. Hope you got it.
Great video, to the point, with clear camera views, and a nice dose of humor thrown in! I’m buying one of those quick sockets too!!!
Thanks, I really appreciate that!
Its leaking bc of the rubber o-ring.
Ok
Wake up people. There are 2 or 3 competent alkaline household battery manufacturers and duracell is one of them. Leakage with alkalines is rare if they are in a good circuit and not installed BACKWARD.
Sounds like you work for Duracell… Go look at these comments. Dozens and dozens of people have experience with them being the worst brand, notorious for them.
I have a 5,000 BTU Midea Window Unit that uses a slinger ring. Every year it fills up with so much algae, mold, and animal debris that it starts to make me sick. Not to mention that it slings that gunk all over the side od the house too. I've never had a problem with singer ring window ACs until this one. I eventually drilled a hole in it, but I no longer trust it and ended up getting something else. Im normally in the camp of let it do what its designed to do, but that cheap piece of crap is a different story. The sad part is that 90% of the cheap 5,000 BTU window units are the exact same as the Midea no matter the brand. They're built in the same grungy CCP factory but have a different name slapped on the front.
Heavy duty cells are 100x worse than alkalines for leakage
👍🏼
I was quoted $390 for dryer pulley and belt and start button. He stated thats the price of material only No labor parts sell on Amazon for $25. Damn thief.
Wow! That's robbery
Thanks.
Thanks for watching
Love your vids. Please be aware of the GE Clearview models. Here's a good review: ua-cam.com/video/oitT0DzXxfU/v-deo.html I would like to find comparison tests of the Midea U's vs the Clearviews.
What if there's no c wire connection at your furnace?
Then You need a c-word adapter. Which I have a video link to in the description
There's no c terminal at the furnace. I bought a c wire adapter kit but that only works if there's somewhere to connect it.
Take it outside and spray it really well, then let it dry out.
That's not the lazy way 😆 but yes, a deep clean is the best way. And I have 2 videos on that
Can this go at the top of the window? Our bedroom is where the fire escape is but it is a VERY narrow fire escape so even this would be unsafe for the bottom of the window.
Great tutorial
Thank you!
I'm glad mine have drain plugs I've removed and thrown in the bin so I don't have to get the drill out, I'll be damned if my units rust out and become mould breeding grounds!
The link to the 12,000 btu refurbished takes me to something strange. I looked at the one on the link for the new and they have used ones starting at $395, so that's only $56 or so dollars less than new. You got one heck of a deal.
Id only be doing that if i hadnt seen anything satisfying in days
👍🏼
Thank you. I cleaned the parts and reassembled. My pilot light needed to be purged for about a minute and then it light up.
